On Tuesday 24 June 2025 at 21:06 UTC, a UDP reflection (DNS) targeted a ticketing customer in the Middle East. The attack peaked at 70.9 Gbps and lasted 63 minutes. Traffic originated from 3576 autonomous systems in 54 countries, predominantly compromised cloud VMs.

Timeline

The attack was preceded by a hacktivist channel announcing the target. Edge packet filters identified the flood by source port and payload signature and dropped it at line rate across 23 points of presence.

Recommendations

  • Enable log streaming to your SIEM for faster correlation.
  • Enable authenticated origin pulls.
  • Lower challenge thresholds on authentication endpoints during high-risk events.
